Hey All,
Here are the notes from the meeting today.
Ben Morrison from mFoundry and SSU Alumni - THIS FRIDAY 4/6 @ Noon in Darwin 28Ben is going to come and give a talk about transition from the educational world, to the work world. He has spent a lot of time documenting the items that university just doesn't prepare you for. So come out and prepare yourself for work after college! You will not regret it. Pizza will be provided.
Seawolf Decision Day - Sat 4/14 8:30-3:30pm
The CS club will have a table and be hosting an open lab session for Seawolf Day. This is a time for incoming Freshman and Transfer students to see our awesome campus and decide if this is the right place for them. Last year this was a pivotal moment for me in deciding that SSU was the right place for me. Please show your support and help grow our program. Even if you can only come for a little while please do!
CS Club Elections - 4/17 @ Noon (Next Meeting)
It is that time of year again for club elections. If your are interested in running for a position please email
csclubevents@gmail.com and let us know you are thinking about it! Carissa and Ryan will be graduating this year, and we have some big shoes to fill. The positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, Fun Police / Event Coordinator, and Webmaster. Without those serving our club would not exist, so if you like this great events and think you can help out we need you!
Computer History Museum 4/20 @ 9AM
We are planning a trip to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View on 4/20. Over break a few of us decided to check out the museum and were absolutely amazed with some of the great artifacts from the past of computing. Pieces of ENIAC, a Xerox PARC Alto, Google's first server, an Apple I signed by Woz are just a few of the great items on display. Also, they display daily a working Babbage Difference Engine which is a mechanical polynomial calculator. It is amazing to see. The cost is $12 for admission with a student ID. Also, please be considerate to the drivers and bring some gas money. Google is basically next door, so we may also hop over to take a photo in front of the Android statues!
mFoundry Tour Friday 4/27 @ TBD
mFoundry has graciously opened up their doors to us. We have been invited to tour both their Larkspur and San Francisco offices. This company has been know to hire SSU graduates, so come out and show them you like them too! If you are interested in going on the tour please email
csclubevents@gmail.com. This event is limited to 10 people, and it will fill up fast! So do not wait to let us know you are interested, when the slots are gone that is it!
BBQ - Saturday 4/28 @ 1PM
As we near the end of another great year here at Sonoma State we will have our annual CS Club BBQ. The event is a pot luck, but the club will provide Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and buns. Please bring a dish to share, and come out to have a good time with your fellow CS majors. If you are a graduating senior please email
csclubevents@gmail.com to let us know! We will present you with your "sash" to wear at graduation.
Reminder, our next meeting is on 4/17 where we will have elections. See you then!
Matt
CS Club Secretary
