[Cs-club-l] Meeting reminder and officer elections!

Hi everyone,

Club officer elections for 2014-2015 are tomorrow during the meeting at 12pm in Darwin 25. Being an officer is a great way to be involved in the department and learn leadership skills. It also looks great on your resume! Please be there to participate in the voting, and if you want to run for a position, just show up!

[Cs-club-l] This Friday STI will be Visiting SSU

This Friday Sonoma Technology, Inc., will be visiting Sonoma State and speaking with students.  The talk will be held at 12:00 p.m. in Darwin 25.  This is a great opportunity to meet and learn more about a local company!  Pizza will be provided!

[Cs-club-l] Last LAN Party of Semester this Saturday!!

The last LAN Party of the semester will be held this Saturday, April 5, from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. in the Darwin Basement! As usual, it's $5.00 at the door.  There will be pizza and soda.

Come take a break from projects and hang out with your fellow classmates!!

Neal Flowers, the CEO of a startup company in Petaluma whose major interest is in mobile computing, will be on campus from 3:00--4:00 PM in Darwin 101 to give a presentation about their company and to discuss their job/internship opportunities. I encourage you to attend this meeting specially if you are a junior or a senior.

[Cs-club-l] LAN Party Tomorrow Night and Other Meeting Notes

Hello Everyone,

The next LAN Party will be tomorrow night from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. in the Darwin Basement!  There will be the usual $5.00 at the door.  There will also be pizza and soda.

Poker Night is back!  It will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 9:00 p.m. in the Darwin Lobby.

Geek Week is also coming up - March 9 - 14!  The events include Dodgeball, Pie-Throwing, Egg Drop, a Scavenger Hunt, and more!  Except for Sunday, all events will be taking place at 12:00 noon, with people meeting outside of Darwin Hall.  There will be events held each day that week through Friday, March 14.  Dodgeball will be on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with a potluck lunch afterwards,  Pie-Throwing will be on Thursday, and Egg-Drop will be on Friday.  The Scavenger Hunt will be taking place throughout the week inside Darwin Hall, looking for the letters of each department of the School of Science and Technology.  We will send out details about the other events as we get them!  If you ordered a 2014 Geek Week shirt, they will be available for pickup starting on Sunday at the Dodgeball event.  Past year Geek Week shirts are currently available at a reduced price.  If interested in purchasing a past Geek Week shirt, see one of the CS Club Officers for more details.  Please come out to support your awesome Computer Science Department in the events throughout the week!

Calling all Assassins game players!  The club is getting a game of Assassins together.  Signups will be at tomorrow's LAN Party.  The game is to stay within the CS Department.  House Rules will include:
  • You must sign up to participate.
  • There will be a moderator for the game.
  • People will be tagged out in the game.
  • Safe Zones include:  classes, CS Club Events, CS Department Office

Officer Positions:

President
- Organize Events
- Contact companies to arrange tours
- Prepare for and run meetings
- Check email account often and respond to emails in a timely manner
- Make sure other officers are doing their job

Vice President
- Assist the president with their duties
- Help come up with event ideas
- Check the club's email and help respond if the president asks you

Treasurer
- Keep track of the club's funds
- Help organize fundraisers
- Help set up for events and anything else the president asks of you

Secretary
- Take meeting notes
- Send out neatly written meeting summaries after each meeting
- Send out meeting reminders the day before the meeting
- Keep bulletin board up-to-date

Event Coordinator
- Make fliers and post them
- Make Facebook events on the CS Club Facebook page
- Post meeting reminders the day before the meeting on the CS Club Facebook page
- Help the secretary with the bulletin board

Please note that every officer is expected to attend events, help set up events and help table during campus outreach.  Chartering for the clubs will begin in April.
