Re: [Cs-club-l] Cs-club-l Digest, Vol 64, Issue 7

Hey,

I graduated in 2008, nice to finally see version control stuff. I would highly suggest everyone go to that.
Also, you can use it for your CS projects and assignments and it will keep you from making huge mistakes and not being able to revert back.

Perforce is also free for small groups and has a neat UI.
I use hg (aka Mercurial) at my work, but it sucks =).
I also have heard good things about Team Foundation Server from Visual Studio for those of you who like to work in Visual Studio.

I apologize for not including the date for the Potluck in the last e-mail.  The Potluck will be held this Saturday, August 31 (tomorrow).

Also, if anyone is planning to bring something to grill tomorrow, grilling supplies, such as charcoal, tongs, etc., will need to be brought since neither the park nor the CS Club has any of these supplies.

To recap:

There will be a Potluck lunch at Magnolia Park in Rohnert Park, a.k.a. [Cs-club-l] App Developer Wanted and M2M App Challenge

Hey everyone! I hope finals are going well!

Just two things I wanted to share with you. First is the M2M App Challenge that is taking place in Santa Clara June 7-9. It is a challenge hosted by Connected World Magazine where you spend two days building an app. The apps are judged and the top three winners get prizes up to $3000. I've attached a flyer you can look at. Please let me know if you are interested.

The second his Alex Tannous is looking for some people to help him with his start up company. Here is what he said in his email to me:

I am looking for a couple of experienced developers who can write php & html and can understand how to work with Facebook applications. It's a startup company and there is no pay involved yet but depending on how valuable the developers are, I'm willing to distribute equity. The faster you could spread the word to your network the better because I have a beta launch date set up and my lead engineer went a different route due to family issues.

A little description of my app: Educational social network for students to learn organically through their classmates and ultimately worldwide.

My email is tann.alex@hotmail.com and my phone# is 7074138233.

Please contact him if you are interested.

Thank you and have a great summer!

[Cs-club-l] Welcome back!

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful break and are having a great start to the semester!

We were supposed to have our first meeting today but we had problems getting a room. I'm sure you all heard about the disaster in the Darwin basement.

We were planning on having LAN Parties this semester but that probably won't happen until we can get the basement back. We will possibly have a Board Game Night or similar event in place of the first LAN Party. We may also have companies come in to talk to us about jobs and their products.

T-shirts are being worked on and we will definitely have them this semester.

WICS is planning trips to Vertigo, mFoundry and The Computer History Museum for anyone that is interested.

Our next meeting is February 5th at 12pm. There will be an email sent out as soon as we know what room we will be using.

Thanks and hope to see you at the meeting!
