This Saturday there will be a LAN Party in the Darwin Basement from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight. There will be the usual $5.00 at the door. There will also be pizza and soda.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 28, at 12:00 noon in Darwin 25.
The next LAN Party will be held on Saturday, February 1, in the Darwin Basement from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight. There will be the usual $5.00 at the door. There will also be pizza and soda. All proceeds from the February 1 LAN Party will be donated to the K.I.N.D Fund (Kids In Need of Desks).
The K.I.N.D. Fund is in association with UNICEF. The money donated will go towards the purchasing of desks for kids in elementary schools in the country of Malawi. Currently, many students in Malawi sit on dirt floors while class is in session. The donated money goes to a local Malawi company that employs local Malawi workers to build the desks for the Malawi schools. If enough money is raised, we could send a young Malawi woman to high school for one year. In Malawi, there is a tuition cost to attend high school, and all students must wear a uniform, buy school supplies, and sometimes live at the school. Because of this, many times it is the young men that are sent to high school instead of the young women. Supporting the K.I.N.D. Fund will be a great way for a club associated with an education institution to give back to kids in need and who are working on their own educational goals.
